How to Use Beware the Serpent

In this book I examine approximately 90 different teachings and organizational elements of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. With each of these topics I use only the Bible to support that particular teaching. I do use the Book of Mormon and The Doctrine and Covenants occasionally, but only to show where Joseph Smith received that particular doctrine.

The Book's Format.

The teachings are formatted in a manner where each chapter is a stand alone topic that can be studied in any manner desired. As for the organization of the chapters, I have put the milk before the meat in chapter format. Those of you who already have a testimony of the teachings of Joseph Smith, feel free to study any topic in any order. For those of you who are going to teach your anti-Mormon friends or if you are just an interested friend of the church, it is advised to follow the topics as presented in the Table of Contents.

If you are really desirous of bouncing around from topic to topic, please do start with the first two chapters, The Apostasy and The Restoration. This will give you a chance to understand where Joseph Smith was coming from and where the Bible begins in the support of Joseph Smith. Once you read and understand the apostasy and the restoration (you do not necessarily have to agree with them) you can jump around from topic to topic.

Hard Bound Copy or Electronic Download.

The hard bound book is to be used for those who would like to read a book. I have also made the book available to be electronically downloaded into Microsoft Word. This is for the purpose of saving you the many hours it will take for you to type up or write up a letter and all the scriptures that you will be needing to send to your loved ones. I apologize for the charge for each chapter download. I am charging for the download for two reasons: one is that I am self publishing this book and website so this will help pay for this good cause, and two is that it is well worth your time and money to have this done for you. It takes at least an hour or two to look up and type in the passages in each chapter and I know very few people whose time is worth less than the couple of dollars an hour it costs to download a chapter.

The Biblical Support Challenge.

Located at the back of the book, The Biblical Support Challenge is a tool designed to meet the needs of those who require the questions to be answered through logic and common sense. I had a good friend who graduated as a Seventh Day Adventist minister edit this book. He agreed with about 70% of the biblical support challenges. The Biblical Support Challenge over time will help your loved one or anti-Mormon friend see the wonderful beauty of the restoration that Christ administered through Joseph Smith. As you study the Bible, keep track of the teachings of the church that you are comparing with and how well this church complies with the different teachings in the Bible.
